Convention 2019
We returned to a popular venue - the Leicester Holiday Inn for the weekend of Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October. This large hotel is close to Leicester city centre with shops, restaurants and attractions within easy walking distance. The hotel has recently been completely refurbished.
The programme for the weekend followed a familiar pattern:
Saturday featured presentations to members and discussions about topics of interest to UK Chapter members. An evening hot buffet dinner was followed by a mini auction of bottles and other collectables.
Guest speakers this year were the new IPBA President Terry Chappell-Boyd who reprised her presentation to the 2017 convention at Tysons Corner: Elizabeth Arden's Dressing table, Ephemera and art. UK Chapter member John King described his long career in the perfume industry.
Sunday was sale day with specialist dealers and members offering thousands of bottles for sale. There was also be an opportunity for members to sell or exchange their spares or duplicate items. The afternoon included the drawing of the usual massive raffle.
